Booking.com confirms tourist accommodation limitations for Crimea

BRUSSELS, Jul 17 (PRIME) -- Amsterdam-headquartered Booking.com, a travel fare aggregator website and travel metasearch engine, has confirmed that it adjusted its website and booking process in such a way so that users can reserve accommodation in Crimea only for business trips because of the E.U. sanctions, a company spokesperson said late Monday.

“As an international company, Booking.com does all possible to ensure compliance with current laws,” the spokesperson said.

“As a Dutch company offering its services from the territory of the Netherlands and having a website there, Booking.com revised the work of its website and the process of booking to be sure that users who want to reserve accommodation in Crimea can do that only if they are on a business trip.”

In June, the E.U. extended restricting measures on Crimea and its city of Sevastopol until June 23, 2019. The measures apply to all E.U. individuals and companies, located in the union, and comprise a ban on the import of goods from Crimea and Sevastopol to the E.U., investments into the peninsula and tourist services.
